The device is very slow compared to a libra H2O, the battery life sucks, sometimes it overheated, and the wifi keep turning off everytime I put the device on sleep mode. Turns out that eventhough I could find my library app on APK Pure and intall it, I couldn't make it work. With the Kobo I need to use ADE to borrow library books, and I wanted something faster and comfier. I have a Kobo Libra H2O, which was my main ereader, but I wanted a device to read on the kindle app, kobo app and my public library app (not libby or overdrive). I had an inkbook calypso plus and I wouldn't recommend it, to be honest. I’m looking for an Android device specifically so I can access books I already “own” on Kindle, and access library apps without having to tether and transfer files every time I check something out.Īlternative suggestions welcome, if there’s something out there I don’t know about. I thought I read somewhere that a newer Android version was needed for some DRM apps-or is that only if you’re using ADE? Am I likely to have trouble finding compatible apps for a 10-year-old OS?Ĭan you sideload the App Store? I’ve read that Boox readers come with instructions for registering the device with Google, is there any reason those instructions won’t work with an inkBOOK?ĭoes anyone have any firsthand experience or advice about inkBOOk readers generally? I will mostly be using it to read books on the Kindle app, books shared from Calibre, and library books from Libby and BorrowBox. The only European alternative I’ve found is the inkBOOK Calypso Plus, which looks like a similar product, except (1) it runs a much older Android version (I think 4.2), and (2) it doesn’t come with the Google Play store (but you can sideload APKs). I’m looking to buy a 6” Android e-reader and was leaning toward the Onyx Boox Poke 4 Lite, but it seems to be impossible to get ahold of in Europe and I don’t want to have to pay shipping, customs and VAT from the US.
